July Newsletter

We cannot wait to reopen our physical gallery at the end of this month. But in the meantime, there is plenty to catch up on and share!

Collections & Appointments

As a quick reminder, we are currently taking appointments for purchase enquiries, as well as collection of purchased or unsold works. To arrange an appointment, simply email info@aspiregallery.com.au at least 24 hours before your preferred time.

At this time, our staff is predominately working from home. As a consequence, responses to any messages left on our Gallery Phone may be delayed. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

UPCOMING EXHIBITIONS
Andrea Moser:
‘Deconstructed Life Cycles’

After a slight postponement due to COVID closures, we couldn’t be more excited for the solo exhibition of ‘Petite Pieces’ 2019 Judges’ Choice Winner, Andrea Moser!

‘Deconstructed Life Cycles’ depicts diverse themes – from fauna, flora, fashion, luxury items, to food and drink. The common thread between these subjects, however, is that they each have diverse meanings, symbolic values and a different relationship with each viewer. Through her work, Andrea hopes to bring these unique experiences and perspectives to life.

Exhibition Dates: 31 July – 22 August 2020

UPCOMING EXHIBITIONS
Michael Cawdrey

Another exhibition we are looking forward to this year is Michael Cawdrey’s biennial solo show!

Michael is an multi-award winning artist who is well known for his incredible technical skill, as well as his ability to depict light and reflections. What captures many of his fans’ attention, however, is his emotional response to the subjects he paints and his sheer talent to capture those everyday scenes around us.

Exhibition Dates: 9 – 31 October 2020

COVID-19 Update #2

COVID-19 Update #2

As we had in anticipated, and in line with both the Governmentโ€™s advice last night and growing concerns nationally, we will temporarily be closing our physical gallery to the public to do our bit to flatten the curve.

Over the past week, the Aspire team has been hard at work preparing some very exciting things for our artists and followers alike.

The beautiful โ€˜A Floristโ€™s Delightโ€™ Competition & Exhibition will now be run virtually and extended for an extra two weeks online until the 19th April 2020!

We will continue to post Guided Tours of the physical exhibition and regular updates (stay tuned, I just filmed another today!), to bring as much of the exhibition into our followersโ€™ homes as possible. The public is still welcome to purchase from our Online Catalogue of Works, with the option for us to store the work temporarily or arrange delivery to the comfort of your home.

Rumour has it that weโ€™ll also be introducing a Voters Choice option online, so that you can all get involved from home!

Exhibiting artists of โ€˜A Floristโ€™s Delightโ€™ were emailed this morning โ€“ so we encourage those exhibiting to read that email carefully for any the changes and some requests!

In other news, we are excited to announce our next competition coming up in May will now be ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ฆ (with discounted entry fees!).

Rather than focus on Brisbane scenes specifically as planned, we thought weโ€™d open the exhibition to all Australian artists. So now more than ever, the newly titled โ€˜Scenes of our Streetsโ€™ Competition is the perfect theme to help bring the outside into everyoneโ€™s homes.

As well as our ordinary Online Catalogue (with our brilliant new shopping cart), we have big plans โ€“ including a virtual gallery, as much digital interaction with our exhibiting artists as possible, a Votersโ€™ Choice Prize and more!

The work of our Managed Artists will still be available through our website should you be interested in purchasing anything. As mentioned, purchased work can be stored temporarily, or we will be offering zero contact collection or delivery right to your front door.

We have also got some exciting new website releases coming up including three artists you may be familiar with โ€“ Andrew Sewell, Nick Kohler & Cam Power.

We have been in touch with any recent purchases or artwork collections, detailing our โ€˜No Contactโ€™ Collection Process. Any paid return postage of work will also still be completed this week.

As weโ€™ll be occasionally working from home, rather than the gallery, there may be a small delay in any phone enquiries. So we encourage you to send any questions, enquiries or concerns through Facebook or to info@aspiregallery.com.au. If we havenโ€™t responded within three days, please feel free to follow up!

Weโ€™d like to thank all of you for your support over these changing times. Please stay safe, stay in contact digitally, and we hope to see you all back in person very soon!

COVID-19 Update

COVID-19 Update

At this stage, Aspire Gallery anticipates to still be open as normal for our upcoming exhibition โ€˜A Floristโ€™s Delightโ€™ โ€“ open every Friday and Saturday until the 4 April. We will be monitoring the situation as it progresses, however, and will announce any updates accordingly.

That being said, over the past week, we have been implementing a number ofย  precautionary measures for all our staff / artists / clients โ€“ including regular wipe downs of all surfaces as people visit and limiting the use of air-conditioning.

The Aspire team itself has a family member that falls into the high-risk category and we know that there are a number of you in the same boat. Subsequently, as a small request we ask that all visitors with flu-like symptoms refrain from visiting at this time. We are more than happy to accommodate you digitally, to the best of our ability!

Awards Night
We will not be hosting an Awards Night for our โ€˜Floristโ€™s Delightโ€™ Competition and the Winner will instead be announced online.

Some may know that our events can get very busy, and we do want to mitigate as many risks as possible for attendees. We understand that exhibiting artists may be disappointed, but rest easy โ€“ as many of our enquiries and sales occur outside these nights.

Online Catalogue

In February, we launched the new online shopping component of our website! Throughout โ€˜Petite Piecesโ€™ we saw some fantastic success with this launch, and hope this can be utilised by any clients concerned about their health or needing to self-isolate.

We encourage those finalists in โ€˜A Floristโ€™s Delightโ€™ to promote the their work as much as possible once the Online Catalogue goes live this week. We are also more than happy for โ€˜Petite Piecesโ€™ Finalists to continue to promote their work and Online Catalogue, as sales have continued following the end of the exhibition on Saturday. We just ask that you please keep us informed should a piece sell or need to be updated (and we will do the same).

We have such fantastic online activity thanks to our art lovers and artists alike, so we highly encourage you to remain active so that we bounce off each other during this time.

Over the next week or so, we will be updating our website with more great things to explore and will be staying active every day so that even those at home can have a little dose of whatโ€™s happening at Aspire!

Face-To-Face Meetings

We will be limiting Face-To-Face Meetings as much as possible with any managed artists, leasing exhibitors or clients. We are, however, happy to accommodate these meetings over the phone, email or via skype.

Just send a email to info@aspiregallery.com.au and we will be in touch with you as soon as possible to arrange a meeting time.

Collections

Should you wish to have purchased or unsold work posted to you rather than collected at the Gallery, please send a quick email over to info@aspiregallery.com.au so that we can be in touch to organise.

All interstate finalists from ‘Petite Pieces’ will be contacted this week to organise the return postage of their work.

Upcoming Exhibitions

We have slowly been implementing contingency plans should their be any impact to our operating hours over the next month. Those who may be impacted will be emailed in the coming days.

Conclusion

If you should have any queries or questions, please donโ€™t hesitate to contact us. Otherwise, we would like to thank you for your understanding and are sending our best wishes to everyone.

Petite Pieces 2020 Now Open!

Aspire Gallery’s annual small ‘Pieces Competition’ is back for 2020! If the difficulty our team had in selecting Finalists was anything to go by, we are sure this has got to be the best year yet!

With a background in Industrial & Interior Design – and industry that linked the creative and commercial – the vision of Aspire Gallery’s director, Donagh Mengel, was to create an award that encouraged and rewarded artists that looked at their art as a business. Open to national and international artists, entrants may submit work of all mediums (including three-dimensional works and photography) up to 50 cm in height, length and width.

Whilst many art competitions focus on technique, judging for ‘Petite Pieces’ looks to promote other aspects of an artist’s career that are just as important – from branding, to creativity / innovation, to commercial capacity.

The 2020 ‘Petite Pieces’ Competition will be held from 21 February – 14 March 2020, Fridays and Saturdays 10:30am to 4:30pm (Four Weekends).
