With a background in Industrial & Interior Design – an industry that linked

the creative and commercial – the vision of Aspire Gallery’s director, Donagh Mengel,
was to

create an award that encouraged and rewarded
artists that looked at their art as a business.

And that’s when ‘Petite Pieces’ was born…

Competition Details

'Petite Pieces' is Aspire's annual business inspired art prize, run every year in February to launch another calendar year!

Whilst many art competitions focus on the technique of an artist, ’Petite Pieces’ looks to promote the other aspects of an artist’s career that are just as important – from branding, to innovation, to commercial capacity.

Across the years, judges for ‘Petite Pieces’ have been chosen outside the typical art world to reflect its underlying vision. These have included political cartoonist, Sean Leahy, licensing guru, Kate Knapp, as well as various Business Director and Creative Association Presidents.
