Binny Harris grew up on a farm in rural New South Wales, where she developed a deep appreciation for the colors, contours, and ever-changing light of the Australian landscape. This early connection to nature continues to influence her artistic practice.
Initially balancing her passion for painting with a career in law, Binny dedicated years to life drawing and painting alongside her professional work. Now, she has the privilege of focusing on her art full-time in Sydney.
Working primarily with oil on canvas, Binny explores the interplay of shape and shadow, both in the natural world and within carefully arranged groupings of objects. Her artistic process is driven by an impulse to find harmony and order in composition. By applying multiple layers of paint, she achieves a soft, smooth surface that enhances the mood of each piece, inviting the viewer into a moment of quiet contemplation.
Binny’s work has been recognized in several exhibitions and awards, including as a Finalist in the Paddington Art Prize (2016) and as a Curator’s Pick at the Downlands Art Show in Toowoomba (2024).
