Brendan Langfield

  • Growing up in regional towns across Australia, Brendan developed a strong connection to nature and the land. After a decade as a touring musician, he discovered a lineage of artists in my family. Previously ignored paintings hanging on the walls of my grandparents house suddenly became treasured vestiges. This revelation sparked my passion for painting.

Brendan believes art should be for everyone, and endeavor to create vibrant and accessible work. Like many, he appreciates and admires aesthetics, but has at times felt intimidated and alienated by the art world. When Brendan began painting, he set out to create work that a) makes him feel good, and b) lets people in,.

By capturing familiar subjects, with dynamic and interesting palettes, Brendan create pieces that Stand out. Created for comfortable and joyful consumption, without timidity or pretension. Self taught and exploratory, Brendan primarily work from my imagination rather than reality.

Brendan doesn’t follow rules (because he never learnt them) and lives for the moments when chance and accident lead to unexpected epiphanies. Brendan let’s the journey guide him to the dynamism and inherent beauty of the Australian landscape
