Kathy Jepps-Cheshire
-
Kathy lives and works in Brisbane, Queensland, and is best known for her still life paintings that feature both actual and imaginary objects. Her compositions incorporate vibrant colors, intricate patterns, perspective, and carefully selected objects that highlight beautiful industrial design. Regular visits to second-hand and vintage stores provide a source of inspiration and items for her works. Using oils and acrylics on canvas or artist boards, Kathy describes her style as representational, naive, and occasionally stylized. Born in London, she often draws inspiration from the interior of her mother's 1850s-era flat in Islington. Influenced by prominent Australian painters Margaret Olley, Grace Cossington Smith, and Margaret Preston, Kathy is continually refining her techniques and evolving her painting style.
