Vanessa Maver

Exploring detail and light, Vanessa draws inspiration from everyday life and nature.
Vanessa has always been a creative, either drawing or painting and is trained as a Graphic designer. It is this mix of wanting to stay within the lines and also get messy that gives her work an interesting texture and depth. Mixing abstract and still life, Vanessa’s creative expression is always evolving. Her still life paintings capture a moment and show the beauty in small things and her more abstract works are a manifestation of day-to-day experiences and memories. Painting for Vanessa really is an escape. She likes to switch off from the outside world and capture the beauty of everyday life and hopefully bring joy to others.
Vanessa’s inspiration comes from getting out into nature, and her obsession with interior design. These bothplay out in her work whether through subject matter or colour palettes and textures.

I’m Vanessa. A self confessed minimalist, except when it comes to house plants and art materials.
I am an artist based in Melbourne, Australia. I have been in the creative industry for over 20 years working in the brand space, which has seen me living and working overseas in London and Amsterdam, with a brief stint in China.
Living back in my hometown for the last 10 years with my two beautiful kids I started to explore my painting more and look at how I can make it a bigger part of my life and not just a hobby. With my brand consultancy VMCO and my art business Vanessa Maver Art I have been able to divide my time between the two, working from my lovely studio space at our home in the outer suburbs of Melbourne.
My art is predominantly still life acrylic paintings of my house plants or large abstracts that capture a moment in time. You can usually find me happily experimenting with all sorts of paints, inks and colour palettes in my studio or styling my plants around our home.
