Robyn Goldman is a Brisbane-based artist working primarily in oils, creating figurative works that span land, seascapes and urban scenes. Drawing inspiration from the diversity of Brisbane’s subtropical environment and the quiet power of the Australian landscape, her practice explores the movement of light and shadow across land, as well as the subtle geometry embedded within natural forms.
Her approach begins with establishing core tonal values, which form the foundation for layered applications of colour that describe the atmosphere and character of each scene. Through this process, a gentle rhythm of light and shade emerges—alongside considered negative space and underlying structure—resulting in compositions that feel both grounded and contemplative. Her work invites viewers to slow down, offering a moment of connection with place and an appreciation of the landscape’s quieter nuances.
More recently, Robyn has expanded her practice into still life, capturing everyday objects with the same sensitivity to light, balance and form. These works reflect an interest in finding beauty within the familiar, celebrating simple, everyday moments.
Largely self-taught, Robyn has developed her practice through workshops and as part of the Pavilion Painters in Brookfield. Now in retirement, she is dedicated to painting and continues to evolve her work with a focus on refining technique, exploring new subject matter, and developing a distinctive personal style.
