Natasha Mott is an emerging artist whose paintings are inspired by the different seasons of life. Residing in Western Australia next to iconic coastlines and picturesque paddocks that approach highways stretching in all directions, she doesn’t have to look far to find inspiration for her artworks. Her paintings often include people reflecting her interest in the everyday experiences of parenthood, friendship and community connections.
Portrait commissions are a valued part of her current practice. Working from photo references Natasha transforms everyday snapshots into treasured paintings. Natasha credits her ability to breathe life and grace into all of her figurative work, in part, to this practice.
Her “glass half full” nature translates in adventurous and playful use of colour, brushstrokes and composition. Natasha’s optimism is evident in her preference for painting idyllic and nostalgic scenes, portraying endless days at the beach, children playing freely and effortless figures immersed in stunning landscapes. By intentionally focussing on idealistic moments in time and employing techniques reminiscent of French Impressionism Natasha creates a sense of lightness and ease in her paintings.
