Tara is a graphic designer by day and an artist by night. Since first learning to hold a paintbrush as a small child, she has loved creating works drawn both from imagination and from life. She instinctively brings characters to all the animate and inanimate forms around her, and in recent years, well-fed, affluent cats have begun to wander into her work—puffy, fluffy, and living delightfully decadent secret lives. (She adores dogs too, though she never feels she can quite do them justice.)
Above all, Tara seeks to create a cosy, whimsical world in her art—one that offers a reassuring sense of balance, even amidst life’s tangles and the broader mess beyond. She hopes her paintings evoke comfort and delight, and if she can make a viewer smile, even just a whisker, she considers her job done.
Her artistic influences include P.G. Wodehouse, Emily Powell, Louis Wain, Richard Scarry, and Eric Ravilious.
