Carol Forbes Croad has been resident in Queensland since 1986 and became a citizen in 1988. Before moving to Australia she lived in London and following graduation from St Martin's School Of Art worked in book illustration, textile design and fashion. She studied at St Martin's for four years graduating in 1971 where she received intense instruction on foundational drawing skills across life, structural and still life categories and those skills form the basis of all her work across all mediums. Following the sale of the business owned jointly with her husband Carol began seriously painting again and she enters awards across the state, the most recent being The Doyles 2026 where she has had two works accepted one of which was "Highly Commended". Her practise revolves around the natural world, working from life or 'plein air' with the aid of sketches and photography if required back in the studio. Carol works in oil, watercolour and drawing over all genres including landscape, still life, figurative and by commission.
