Collection: A Quiet Familiar: A Solo Exhibition by Danielle Lovatt

This series of small paintings is about celebrating the comfort and security we can find in our own homes. If we stop for a moment and observe the quiet scene of belonging we have created, perhaps a little salve against the loudness of the outside world can exist.

Seasonal light playing on surfaces, a sleeping pet, collected objects and furnishings that bring a sweet memory connection, cared for houseplants and a landscape beyond; the seemingly mundane brings us a simple grounding joy. The lack of a human presence in the images allows the space to take on a character of its own while still bearing the personality of the owners.

These are not spaces of silence, but instead, an assuring and familiar quiet.

On show from 26 September
